I saw this movie a few times, but I think it was before I started logging shit. 1999 - end of the world yoo!
I like how simple the shots and editing is yedig. If you haven't seen this movie I'd imagine you don't like movies cuz this is a classic (surprising right? - M. was good in the early days foo)
GEORGE A ROMERO - that's all I have to say. Watch this movie, it's everything you want a zombie movie to be, and John Leguizamo plays a latino thug in it.
Saw a secret screening in the city. My friend had a ticket she wasn't using, so I went to check it out.
Daniel Day-Lewis was fucking awesome.
I was impressed by the amount of long takes they rocked in this movie. Everything production-wise was FUCKIN SICK (obviously, it's the Steve). Idk how historically accurate it is, but it was interesting from an 'educational' stand-point. It was not that exciting tho..
I also think it's an interesting 'time' for this film to come out because since we are so many years past slavery - it was kind of humorous to see how upset the democratic party was about passing that 13th amendment to end slavery. As a result, it made me think about how many amendments or bills might be in argument when they really should just be passed for fuck sake.
I wouldn't spend $12 to see it in theater, but you should see it somehow foo!
This guy directed two Austin Powers films and Meet the Parents - all funny movies.
This movie was funny - I saw it in theaters - could've waited to see it on DVD, but it was pretty damn funny.
I'm sure all the haters would say it's all the usual jokes - and they are probably right - but that was okay with me. I could watch Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell act like assholes for a damn long time.
Funny this guy's last name is webb - You might know him for doing (500) Days of Summer
I saw it IMAX 3D bitches (duh) and if you don't - you are blowing it.
I am also proud to say my homie Michael Barra had a cameo in this flick as the Store Clerk (the only dude in the movie to punk spiderman's ass without catching as ass-whooping!
This movie was awesome and way better than the original - go see it today goddamnit
First of all - had to do some research after watching this because I was atonished that it was such a giant FLOP
This is what I learned - Kenta is Kinji's son and Kinji (who directed the 'Battle Royale') DIED (MAY GOD REST HIS SOUL) he died after filming only one scene for the movie, and then his son took over afterwards.
That particular situation is quite a story in itself really (inception style) but the end result was not quite as hollywood and fantastical as a movie about the making of that movie could be (follow me?) meaning - Battle Royale 2 was absolutely terrible. However, if one were to make a movie about the story of Kenta, I'm sure it would end with him directing an amazing film in the name of his pops.
The film was not another class of students going to an island to kill each other - instead a new class of students was going to an island to fight a rebel force that is being led by the survivor from Battle Royale one......... It was a horrible attempt at an epic war film. At first I was thinking - damn, some people can't make epic war films quite like the U.S. .. but perhaps the crappy scenes are more a result of a first time director.
If you are a true fan of Battle Royale - idk how you haven't seen the sequel yet - if you just 'saw it an liked ' then don't bother watching the sequel because it's pretty crappy (i guess unless you are looking to see a crappy film so you can laugh at it)
You shouldn't even have to read my review to know that Alex Choonoo would tell you to watch this fuckin' movie - enough said.
it was epic (you can see it on Netflix, and you are doing yourself dirty if you haven't seen it yet)
This movie is what I was hoping to see when I went into the theater to watch Hunger Games. Although - there are some things in Hunger Games that I really did like, that was not present in Battle Royale.. My number one example is the fact that people were watching this event on TV in the Hunger Games. I really liked that about the Hunger Games, and in Battle Royale - no one is watching what they are doing except for the teacher and his soldiers. I think if Battle Royale was combined with the Hunger Games that would have made for one fucking good movie.
Loved the violence, loved the corny ass scenes in between, loved the flash backs, loved the end - I loved this movie god damnit...
No word of a lie - I think I am going to go watch it after publishing this post.
haha - this movie was kind of funny.. I would put it on when you are in front of the TV and you got other shit to do but you'd rather have a movie playing on the TV instead of a TV show.
Although this film was made in 2001, it seems like an 80's movie or something - I like that they did it that way. AND I really liked the ending - it was funny.
Put this on if your bored and intoxicated and enjoy it for what its worth. I may be one too many beers deep to elaborate right now - but I think you get the point.
( i was a bit shocked that this movie made no money )
Awesome - damn that's three movies in a row bitches!
This is another one you should see and its on Netflix so you got no excuses. I was happy with the end - i won't say why - but it was not what I started to expect.
Directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven - just to name the one I've seen, but there are about 20 more)
Haldukken! bitches - go see it while its still in theaters
I saw it pourin' whiskey in cola with fam and tree'd up in oregon (literally hi on some trees); and I saw it 3D (but I will never tell you why, mua hahaha)
It was awesome - there were some corn-ball type moments (like when the guy is baby talking the alien) - but I kind of liked how this seemed to be 'by-the-books' in the sense that writing reminded me of older classic thrillers. I was also thankful they did not go too deep into the 'handy-cam' style of filming.
I noticed a lot of Stanley Kubrick shout outs - hollaaa
I will drop one spoiler - the movie was not exactly about how the alien from 'Aliens' came to be - in other words it was not about the fact that it was a prequel 'Aliens' ... it was much more about religion VS science and dropping philosophical seeds for your brains. Never fear - it wasn't preachy (I didn't think so anyways) - and you get to see some cool shit.
Lastley - I wouldn't waste your money on the 3D... but keep in mind, I wasn't fit to drive, maybe that has similar effects on 3D glasses. It is Ridley Scott after all - might be worth it to pay the extra dollar to keep that dude in the game!
(according to the website):
Music/Book, and Lyrics - John Kander and Fred Ebb
Co-Author, and Original Director - Bob Fosse
Director - Walter Bobbie
Choreographer - Ann Reinking
Yep saw a Broadway play recently with some fam, and it was better than I thought it was going to be.
I love going to Broadway shows - they are always pretty spectacular, but I was attending this show with some family that is more on the elderly side of life.. so I was kind of expecting something less sexy.
Obviously, I knew nothing at all about this show prior to seeing it and I am glad I didn't. The stage never changed, which made this show different than the other shows I have seen (like Wicked and Shrek) but the dancing and singing was awesome.
The tickets for this show are actually not as expensive as other shows (probably because of the stage not changing and crud) so I would suggest checking this one out if you feel like being fancy and seeing a Broadway show but for half the price you might pay to see any other show on Broadway.
Saw it IMAX 3D a week after it came out - and there was still a line to get in, and a full theater.
You already know I'm saying haldukken to this movie and if you haven't seen it IMAX 3D shame on you. I would like to speak to the opposing argument to this movie (that seems to come mostly from the older generations) - "There was too much special effects and not enough story" - I don't know if anyone who says that know that the Director Joss Whedon was also the WRITER for The Avengers... he ALSO WROTE - Toy Story, was the creator/writer for the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer (a show I never watched, but has 7 seasons/145 episodes and won 3 emmy awards) MY POINT is that I'm sure they could have came up with a good story, but honestly I went to the theater that day to see The Avengers kick some ass!
I guess the way I see it is - sometimes you put on a bad movie, knowing it is going to be bad, but you enjoy it because it is bad.. If you went to see The Avengers and you were expecting a life changing story to unfold on screen - I think you shot yourself in the foot walking into that movie with those expectations.
The most interesting point anyone made about this movie to me was - you saw The Avengers IMAX 3D and you saw Avatar IMAX 3D - which one was better, visually? I'd have to agree that Avatar blew me away with the 3D action, and I have YET to see a movie that matched it or topped it.
So I wonder - could The Avengers have had even better action and 3D effects?
either way - your lame if you don't see this 3D in theaters because that will be the best way to see it.
Obviously had to watch this show because Tim Kring foo !
at first I really hated Kiefer Sutherland in the show, every episode he asks the stupidest questions non-stop.. you will want to reach into the TV and punch him in the face after a while. The show gets better as it goes - and I really like the kid's VO stuff (interesting theories and shit)
Creators: Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf
Been watching this show a lot - its fucking awesome (i like it anyways)
The first few episodes, I was not much impressed actually because the CGI graphics were lame and I hate CGI to begin with. I kept watching the show though because it takes place in Portland Oregon (gotta show support to hometown mofos yedig)
By about episode 5, the CGI got better and it seemed like the budget was growing. I love the story lines that are going on now and the action is getting better and better.
Watch this show, you can see it on Hulu - haldukken
Herschel is a documentary I saw on ESPN about a running back.
The movie was pretty awesome. That guy Herschel is inspiring, and it was interesting to learn what helped motivated someone who could have been one of the best running backs of all time.
I don't know how you could watch it any other way than catching it on ESPN, but if it's on netflix or hulu or something I would suggest watching this movie. I can't recall how long it was... just man up and watch it.
MAN am I GLAD I did NOT waste my money seeing this in theaters!
This guy has the most random movies under his belt in my opinion -
He directed 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' 'October Sky' 'Jurassic Park 3' and some other recognizable stuff.. They are all kid type movies, but they are still pretty different if you ask me.
anyways - that might have been the biggest problem for me in this movie - it might have been too directed to a young audience for my taste. I never read the Captain America comics, but damn was he really that tiny? I would have thought he could be small but still have a little muscle - this guy was skin and bones... but that was not the worst of it. it was the CGI that blew it for me. Hands down, there was nothing else that irked me more than how stupid 'skinny' captain america looked - it ruined it for me.
Mr Anderson was good when he was Red Skull, but he still was too much like Mr Anderson for the rest of the movie to me. Either way, he does make a good super villan.
If you are not bothered by CGI - you might enjoy this movie more than me - either way, still excited to see The Avengers !
I liked it, but it wasn't as cool as I thought it would be. It was probably because I was expecting to see much more action. I thought the majority of the movie was going to be about the kids battling each other in the arena, but that part was more like the final act of the film. However, I did like the theories and ideas that come to mind watching the movie - like the way media portrays hi profile events, and the idea/portrayal of a rich community ruling everyone else.
My favorite part was probably the amount of silence in the film. There were many parts that I noticed had no dialogue, and the characters would just sort of zone out in their own world. I liked that a lot because it reminded me of a book. Sometimes in books, the character is not talking, but there are words to tell you what the character is thinking. I think it would be an interesting switch to a film, if that information was not included and the viewer can use their imagination to think about how the character feels.
I HATED the editing in the beginning. There were so many quick cuts and it became deceiving because that also lead me to believe the film was going to be action packed, but it was not, which made me hate that fast paced cutting in the beginning even more. what the fuck was the point of it?
anyways - it was nice to see it in theaters, but it will probably be just as cool on DVD
i honestly haven't seen any movies since my last post (aint that a B?) I've been working a lot lately.
i did end up watching season 3 of 'Misfits' (not really recently - but between when i posted about it and my last post.. if that makes sense) and season 3 was actually not as bad as I thought it might be. it seems like the show just wasn't getting the ratings that it needed or something, so it kind of faded away.. but i would check out season 3, there were some cool episodes.
My favorite part was every time I expected one thing to happen - something else happened instead.
For example, when Kid is runnin away from the thugs and he hops a fence - I was thinkin, there is gonna be a massive dog there waiting for him - instead he became a witness to a fat bastard making love to some woman. I was dying laughing.
It has corny things goin on time to time that you would expect in a movie where the plot is - kid has to party - but it was never as corny as american pie.
I'm starting to become obsessed with super powers, so this movie was kind of right up my alley.
I liked the format/genre they shot (where everything is supposed to be real, like they filmed the whole thing) but the fact that they shot that way definitely shit on anyone else who wants to do that format (if you ask me) because this movie clearly had a nice budget, and I think that format was invented as a loop hole around NOT having a budget.... I guess us people who don't have money are gonna' have to figure out a new way to make a no budget movie.
Anyways I noticed there was hardly any score in this film - I thought that was pretty interesting and cool that they could pull that off.
the special effects were dope, the story was real dope.
I say see this movie, but wait 'till it comes onto DVD and go see Spielberg's 'Warhorse ' in Theaters instead (that way hopefully the movie won't make as much in theaters and someone can tell the producers - should have not shot it that way dude) mua hahahaha - otherwise that kid discovered that 'the character's shot this movie by themselves' format is the new thing.
They 'style' the image in post hard body it seems like - have some weird thing join on with focus, but it's cool.
The characters and the premise is awesome. They are (i think) in their 20s and not sure what to do with themselves, then they get super powers and don't know how they work exactly.
I like it a lot for two reasons:
1. Some of the super powers are really random. I think that is cool because then it becomes harder for some of them to know what to even do with their power.
2. The super powers don't always work. When the show starts off - they don't really have control over their powers - shit just happens (not for all of course) one girl can use her power anytime she wants, but it is cool to see how they deal with their power and try to learn how to use it better.
I also like that there are all these other random people walking around who also have powers - it makes for cool encounters in different episodes.
I saw Seasons One and Two - but they flopped the end of Season Two pretty hard I think.
SPOILER: (click the back button fast ! watch the show - and come back)
Season Two ends with the kids finding someone who can take their power from them. Since they aren't very skilled at using their powers - they decide to sell their powers to this guy to make some money. I thought that was straight up retarded, especially since the episode right before the Last episode - everyone would have died if the guy that rewinds time did not have his power !
Anyways - season 3 starts off with them going back to probation (like season One) and the loud obnoxious character is replaced with a new loud obnoxious character - I couldn't find any info about what is going on (i didn't look much further past wikipedia tho) - I am assuming that they had to or wanted to get rid of one of the actors, and have him replaced of course. ALSO they probably weren't making the money they thought they would be (or they are greedy fucks and want to make more) and so they came up with some excuse to keep the characters in the same location for the following season.
You can see it on Hulu - I would actually recommend this show over 'Being Human' because it is more funny. Being Human (as you may have guessed from the title) is kind of about life and relationships - where as Misfits is more about dumb young kids having fun, rather than getting too deep.
I just finished Season One of this show - although I didn't watch the first episode.
I walked in on episode two and someone explained to me that these people (a vampire, werewolf, and ghost) all live together in England.
I thought it was a pretty cool premise - and after watching one, you know I had to watch the next one.
I got nothing too much to say - The CG is minimal enough to not turn me off from the show. The stories and episodes are good - entertaining. There is some good acting, and production value.
There are times when the editing irks me - usually when there are an abundance of cuts - but I guess that makes good TV right?
Its on Netflix - check it out, it's better than some other shows I've seen join around
Writing Credits: Michal Madej, Rafal W. Orkan, Haris Orkin, Pawel Selinger
Orkan AND Orkin ... that's strange?
This game is a lot of fun. I am the chinese lady character because she is best with sharp weapons and slicing zombies heads clean off is my favorite thing to do.
The story line is kind of wack. The fact that you cannot play co-op unless it's via the internet (can NOT play split screen at home) IS WACK !!!
actually the only thing I like about this game is that it scares me sometimes (zombie games always do) and that you just wreck people with blunt objects and sharp shit.
I also DO like the way there are separate groups of people who each collectively have their own opinion on what is the best next move - now that there has been a zombie apocalypse.
I would like this game a LOT more (and probably wouldn't have the discipline to stop playing) if the story line was awesome... although maybe it's just not the story line I wish it was (which I will not say either online because the government is watching).
ANYHOW - this game is a lot of fun and probably worth the purchase.
Directed by David Gordon Green (he directed Pineapple Express too)
ehh...
This movie had its funny moments, and I did kind of like that they tried to do something different by making a period piece comedy, but 'Monty Python and The Holy Grail' was better.
I feel like these guys are going in the same direction of any crew of comedians - same shit, different costumes.
I think it might have actually been funny if everyone played 'true' to the character and time frame... At the end of the day I think I'm tryin to find a better way to say:
Danny McBride ruined this movie for me.
I was thinking about Will Ferrell and his crew, or Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Etc... and people always say "he's the same in every movie" - BUT I like a lot of Will Ferrell's movies because I think he's funny... even if it's the same act/different costume.
I think the real problem I had with Your Highness is - Danny McBride trying to be a new character (cuz he was different in Pineapple Express) and I think his character in Your Highness just sucked. He wasn't funny, and it was enough to kill the whole movie for me.
