Martin

Intro to the TV show Martin.

The creator's names are at the end of that clip, but it's not hard to figure out that Martin Lawrence had a lot to do with the creation of the show.

I posted this for two reasons ...

1 - today (April 16th) is Martin's birthday.

2 - I have been watching this show a lot lately at my lady's crib cuz it's playing non-stop on MTV2

This show is pretty damn funny. I think my favorite character is 'Brotha Man' who lives on the 5th floor.

Oceans

Directed by: Jacques Perrin, and Jacques Cluzaud

Fucking Epic. Haldukken to your whole fucking life style.

This movie made me really feel tiny, but not in a bad way. It's actually a little comforting to know that there are so many hundreds of thousands of species on this planet besides humans that just don't give a fuck about things that we give a fuck about. They just live life - and that's fucking cool.

If you haven't seen this, you are missing out. I can't even imagine how they got some of the shots in this film (part of me will be very upset to find out how much - if any - of this footage was fucked with in post).

I got nothing else to say - see it, you won't regret it one bit ... you might have an epiphany.

Problem Child 2

Directed by Brian Levant

I couldn't find a trailer for this vid, but this scene was easily one of my favorites lol

You know when this movie was put in I was like - oh lord ... but it's actually pretty fucking funny.

This little bastard is calling women bitches and shit, i was like wtf dude? i saw this when i was like 8!

Anyways, if for some reason you have the opportunity to watch this - don't turn it down just cuz it's a kid movie. This movie is funny. It has a handful of actors that were awesome but I haven't seen in a long time - including John Ritter (from three's company) who died a few years back ... I was looking some of these people up and found out that the guy who played John's dad in this movie (Jack Warden) actually out-lived Ritter.

The other cool thing about this movie is the puke scene (posted Below), which I'm sure there are more than one puke scene like this one, but it reminded me of that puke scene from Family Guy that everyone knows.

I liked the cinematography too because it was real classic and 'by the book' and it was cool to see that cuz I feel like you don't see that so often anymore.

I can't give this movie a haldukken cuz it's just a little too corny , but it gets a baby haldukken for still making me laugh 20 years later.

Amelie- Comptine D' un Autre Ete

According to IMDB the original music from this film was by Yann Tiersen

So after recently seeing the movie I checked out the soundtrack on youtube (cuz I love sound tracks) and this is one of my favorite pieces... I love when someone kills it on the piano like someone does in this 2 minute song.

It's peaceful and helps me think so I kind of have it on repeat right now.

April

I recently shot a short for the web series 'Moments' that is going to kick off on April 30th on Renaissanceeye.com ... and I will be working on that, and my OWN film for a lot of April so I might switch gears a little and try to post an inspiring song every day because the only movies I will be watching for the rest of the month are movies I took part in (and those movies don't have trailers on youtube yet) ;)

Amelie

Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Yea so this is a haldukken , i didn't post the english trailer because you should have already seen this film so you won't need the english translation to know what it is about...

if you have not seen this film then i'm not sure what your doing with yourself...

the colors are awesome, and I love how many times this movie contradicts what my teachers in school told me to do.

the story is awesome and inspiring and the jib shots they pull off in this movie are fucking epic.

check it out, bring your thinking cap and take notes

The Last Exorcism

Directed by Daniel Stamm

YOU SHOULD SEE THIS

BUT

it does not get a haldukken.

This movie was SO good on SO many levels, and to be honest the reason it does not get a haldukken you might not want to know, so leave now because I am going to say it in the next paragraph (if you consider these paragraphs) I'll even leave it to the last sentence of the next paragraph so you can tease yourself with a few of my first lines about what I liked, and then close the window before you reach that last spoiling sentence (i got your back people)

The concept - amazing. I love that it was 'documentary' style... although I won't lie - I knew this movie had a gaffer from the moment I saw the first shot. (it was all lit really well) and then of course there are shots where the girl is in silhouette ... i'm sorry people, shit does not get that convenient - some guy had to spend about 30 min to an hour making that Nell chick look VERY scary. BUT I was able to forget about all that and engage in the movie and the characters. The fact that the main character was a priest that did not believe in god was AWESOME because it just added a new dimension to the exorcism thing. (not that I am a major fan of the exorcism movies, nor do I think I have seen them all) - this is a tangent, but I did see the one 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose' and in that movie there was a certain time that the person who is possessed wakes up ... 1:23 or some crap like that ... NO WORD OF A LIE , I watched that movie (you probably know the rest) I went to sleep that night AND WOKE UP AT THE SAME TIME - needless to say I had to sit in the kitchen make tea and pray to god for a while, anyways it was some crazy shit.

(i tricked you i didn't spoil the movie yet - that last paragraph was too giant to continue tho)

So the priest that tricks people into not being possessed anymore - brilliant. There were also numerous times in the movie when I wanted to scream at the television (and that is always a good feeling) DONT GO BACK TO THE HOUSE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ... hate all you want, but you know you LOVE when these stupid fucks SHOULD leave ... but they don't. Anyways, the ENTIRE movie had me engaged and invested and on the edge of my seat ... and then what happens? they end the movie.

What the fuck man ??? There were a ton of scary moments and I guess there was enough blood, but I was like YES I KNEW THIS BITCH WAS POSSESSED ... and we don't even get to see it !!! we see her give birth to some red fucking alien that gets tossed in to a fire THAT IS CLEARLY CG and then the movie turns into blair witch for 5 min and it's over ? WHAT THE FUCK GUYS !!! i mean ... maybe there did not need to be another 45 minutes of running and scary and DONT GO THAT WAY ... BUT I DID want to see that realization AT LEAST of the priest realizing THAT HE WAS FUCKING WRONG.

For this reason ... letting me the FUCK down at the end of the movie ... I cannot give this awesome movie a haldukken.

Sucker Punch

Directed by Zack Snyder

This movie is a baby haldukken ... please go see it while you still have time to see it in theater.

I'm not gonna lie this movie was awesome ... but there were a lot of things that kind of bugged me.

However , it is good enough to see it in the theater and it is worth the $10 you will spend AND (similar to Avatar) one of the best things about this movie is the special effects ... and you just wont get the full experience unless you see it on the big screen.

The story line is ehhh ... The girls are HOT (part of me felt that was a cop out, but whatever), the action is sick, the effects are amazing ... well the visuals in this movie are amazing all together.

go see it and remember the people behind this movie are people who are making a shit ton of money, so like it or not - you better learn something

The Dark Knight

A HERO WITHIN A HERO !!!

:)

Directed by Christopher Nolan

Haldukken ... if your reading my blog for movie ideas and this is one you haven't seen ... sign off the internet and go watch this movie.

it's epic - the joker is amazing. the effects are amazing. the action is amazing. the score is amazing.

my favorite quote watching it this time around - "What doesn't kill you, will only make you ... stranger"

My Best Friend's Girlfriend

Directed by Howard Deutch

Saw this movie after I had a few afternoon drinks (it was the weekend and a day of rest - relax)

It seems like the type of movie that you would want to see under the influence, or medicated, but I can't lie it was pretty funny.

Alec Baldwin was in this movie and that was a nice surprise because he is pretty hilarious. Dane Cook managed to be more funny than Jason Biggs (you know - that kid who blew a fast nut and became famous for that in the movie american pie)

You know ... I kind of had the feeling that Jason Biggs was cast for the same reason a girl that is a 6 brings her friend that is a 3 with her when she goes out because it makes her 6 looks like a 8 ...

I know now all of you are good at math, so this is what I mean - Jason Biggs was not funny at all in this movie, and I think that is why Dane Cook appeared to be more funny than he normally is...

Bottom line - movie is pretty funny (not as epic as old school or superbad) but it is pretty funny, so if someone puts it in at a party or when your too lazy to object - sit back and enjoy some laughs.

Poltergeist

Directed by Tobe Hooper

I actually saw this movie a while ago, but I passed by it when I was checking Netflix today and I was like ... oh yea I saw that movie.

What I do remember is that it is a bad ass movie, I love the use of the Television in the movie and if you have not seen this movie THEN SEE IT SOON FOO

another classic that gets a haldukken
