Easy A

Directed by Will Gluck

This movie was terrible. I did like the story about the saint that it was kind of based off of ... but I was kind of asking myself through the whole movie - did people really act that way in high school?

This was written by Bert V. Royal (who was born in 1977) ... So maybe he should have written it for his era?

I did like the quirky stuff - it was half funny (like the parents) - but it was a little over board for me.

Either way, it cost approximately (according to imdb) 8 mill and made about 58 mill ... nice little score right there for Sony Pictures and Screen Gems.

I guess it had an audience. I do like that actress (the chic from Superbad - Emma Stone) even though she seems to get the same role over and over, whatever.

The one thing that kind of surprised me was the open stab at religion (specifically right wing Christians) I am just a little surprised that mocking the christians was never an issue that was raised? maybe people don't care anymore? I feel like if some coked up celebrity said - christianity is bullshit. (which is was was implied in the film) - there would be a lot of fuss. Not that I care - just taking note of when and how to get away with saying certain things about certain groups, namean?

I wouldn't watch this movie unless you have nothing else to do (for example you are really really really heavily medicated and you can't get up, and someone else puts the movie on)

Thor

Directed by Kenneth Branagh

HALDUKKEN

Saw it 3D in theater ... wouldn't really say it was worth the 3D, but it was nice to see in theater.

I think I'm going to watch more of Kenneth's movies - Frankenstein !

The movie was a little corny, not gonna lie, but it is Thor namean? I was worried about this beef cake (Chris Hemsworth) dude doin a good job acting but he did a good job and Natalie Portman - good as usual. (Anthony Hopkins ... Haldukken.)

I also liked the change Thor went through - to humble himself. More people definitely need to learn how important it is to be humble.

Go see it - in theaters !

Devil

Directed by John Erick Dowdle

(and that might be why it was actually an OK movie ... needless to say - M. Night made SURE to get his name all over that movie)

This movie was actually pretty good. Not a haldukken, but I would still suggest watching it.

I am a little bummed cuz I actually watched this movie like two weeks ago, but I've been to busy to put it up. Check out 'http://www.renaissanceeye.com/moments' to see what I've been busy with.

The twist did get me lol - good job shalaman.

The end actually is what made the film for me because I liked the way it all tied together. Some people might actually dis-like it for the same reason, but I guess I like full circles .. even if you might have been able to predict it.

The suspense was pretty well done and there was enough action to keep me into it even though the movie revolved around people stuck in an elevator.

See it. Move on.

(M. Night - good call going back to writing/producing and leaving the direction to someone else!)

Laughing Gas

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I heard weed is a gateway drug ... maybe that's Batman's fault for giving Robin Sad pills to deal with Laughing gas.

JERICHO

Created by - Stephen Chbosky, Josh Schaer, and Jonathan E. Steinberg

Produced by - Jon Turteltaub (the guy that directed National Treasure)

This show is pretty awesome. It did not make it past 7 episodes in the second season, and I think it's because they went in the wrong direction at the wrong time.

The show is pretty awesome (apocalypse setting) and filled with mystery. It's cool when we find out all the answers to these characters later on in the first season, but I think where they fucked up royally was how they ended the season (you can't fuck that shit up man). They ended the season in the middle of a fucking gun fight ! you can't do that man .. I think one reason Dexter has remained so strong is because they were smart about the beginning and ending of the seasons.

The middle of Jericho gets boring and TV ish, but that is the nature of the beast really, and I think they could have milked that boring shit just a little more to stay on the air just a little longer (at least for an entire second season).

The other thing I think they jumped into a little too fast was the gov't conspiracy plot. They should have saved that shit because the most fun part about Jericho is that there was NO gov't and when they come back with all this conspiracy stuff ... it was just a little too much too fast.

I heard they started a graphic novel after the show was canceled - definitely down to check that out.

Anyways, the show is pretty fucking awesome, haldukken, if you want a show to watch, check it out. There is only one and a half seasons so it's not like LOST where you will be watching this show for the next year.

Batman Forever (1995)

Directed by Joel Schumacher

Okay this movie was also pretty epic, but some shit was kind of corny.

For that reason I can only give this movie a baby haldukken, and that's a real small haldukken too.

My favorite thing in the movie was the villains.. Jim Carey was AWESOME, and I think Tommy Lee Jones played a better Two Face than Aaron Eckhart.

Batman (1989)

Directed by Tim Burton

Fucking epic. Haldukken.

If you haven't seen it then you got a lot of homework to do because this is ANOTHER movie you should fucking see.

I watched it during a break from my ADR sessions I was doing this past month, and it opened my mind about my own film and how sometimes you just gotta KEEP SHIT SIMPLE.
